Andrea McGinty (b. 1985, Sunrise, FL) is an artist and writer based in New York. She received her MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 2014, and a BA in Art History from Florida Atlantic University in 2007. McGinty’s work has been exhibited internationally, with recent solo exhibitions Real Simple at Liberal Arts Roxbury (Roxbury, NY) and Clint Eastwood at Sunny NY (New York, NY), reviewed in The Brooklyn Rail. She has been featured in group exhibitions at Rachel Uffner (New York, NY), Petra Bibeau (New York, NY), Lighthouse Works (Fishers Island, NY), VSOP Projects (Greenport, NY) Lane Meyer Projects (Denver, CO), International Waters (Brooklyn, NY), Essex Flowers (New York, NY), and East Hampton Shed (East Hampton, NY). She is a 2023 grant recipient from The Peter S. Reed Foundation and was awarded a fellowship with The Lighthouse Works (Fishers Island, NY) in 2018. Her work has been featured in publications such as Mousse Magazine, W Magazine, The New York Times, and The Paris Review. McGinty is the author of “A Quieter Person with More Boxes” and “Ah Yes, Bad Things”, published by Soft City Printing (2022, 2017; Brooklyn, NY), and “God, I Don't Even Know Your Name”, published by Badlands Unlimited (2015; New York, NY) released as part of Paul Chan’s Hugo Boss Prize exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum of Art.
